The family has a great influence on children's development, but the influence outside the home plays a bigger part in children's life. Do you agree or disagree?

Children grow within a network of influences, and the relative power of family, school, peers and media changes as they move from early dependence to social independence. I partly agree that influences outside the home eventually become very significant, but the family remains the foundation that shapes how children interpret and respond to those outside pressures.
