Pay often reflects market demand and entertainment value rather than the social importance of a person's work, which is why athletes and celebrities may earn far more than teachers or doctors. I agree that essential professionals deserve higher pay and stronger public recognition, although this does not necessarily mean their salaries must always exceed those of every successful entertainer or sports star.
