Some people think the main purpose of schools is to turn the children into good citizens and workers rather than to benefit them as individuals. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Schools sit between personal development and social need, educating children both as individuals and as future members of a workforce and community. I partly agree that schools should prepare good citizens and workers, but this purpose should support rather than replace the growth, curiosity and wellbeing of each child.
