Childhood is often treated as a preparation for adulthood, yet it is also a period in which children need space to explore, make mistakes, and develop a sense of personal agency. This explains why opinions differ over whether children’s leisure time should be carefully organized or left largely to their own judgment. In my view, structured activities are valuable, but children should still retain a meaningful degree of freedom in their free time.
