Some countries spend a lot of money on making it easier to use bicycles in cities. Why is this the case? Is this the best way to solve traffic problems?

Many cities now spend large sums on cycle lanes, bicycle-sharing schemes, secure parking, and road designs that protect cyclists from traffic. This investment reflects growing concern about congestion, air pollution, public health, and the livability of urban spaces. While making cities more bicycle-friendly can be an effective part of transport policy, I do not believe it is the single best solution to traffic problems in all contexts.
