Scientific research should be carried out and controlled by the government rather than private companies. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Scientific research now shapes public health, energy systems, agriculture, military power and digital life, so the question of who controls it is not merely technical but deeply political. I partly agree that governments must guide and regulate research in areas of public importance, but private companies should also conduct research when strong ethical and legal safeguards are in place.
