People continue to commit crimes even after being punished for it. Why do you think this happens? How can crime be stopped?

The persistence of crime after punishment suggests that penalties alone often fail to address the deeper causes of offending. People reoffend because of social exclusion, weak rehabilitation and criminal identity, and crime can be reduced only when punishment is combined with prevention, reintegration and support.
