More and more people buy and use their own cars. Do you think the advantages of this trend for individuals outweigh the disadvantages for the environment?

Modern life is increasingly built around speed, privacy, and personal choice, and few inventions serve these desires as effectively as the private car. For many individuals, car ownership represents freedom and convenience; for the planet, however, it often means congestion, pollution, and a deeper dependence on fossil fuels. Although private cars can improve daily life in significant ways, I believe their environmental costs are too serious to ignore unless societies rapidly shift toward cleaner forms of transport.
