Modern societies place a striking amount of value on youth. From skincare products and cosmetic surgery to fitness programmes and anti-ageing treatments, many people spend heavily on their appearance in the hope of looking younger. This trend is driven by social pressure, media culture and workplace competition, and although it may have some personal benefits, I believe it is largely a negative development when taken too far.
