In some countries, the criminal trials are shown on the TV and the general public can watch them. Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?

Public access to criminal trials is an important principle of justice, but televising courtroom proceedings extends that access into mass entertainment and public judgement. I believe the disadvantages of broadcasting criminal trials generally outweigh the advantages, although limited educational coverage may be acceptable under strict controls.
