In some countries, secondary schools aim to provide a general education across a range of subjects. In others, children focus on a narrow range of subjects related to a particular career. Which of these two systems is more appropriate in today's world?

Secondary education must prepare young people for a labour market that rewards both specialised competence and the ability to adapt across changing careers. I believe a broad general education with carefully chosen career pathways is more appropriate than early narrow specialisation for most students today.
