In many countries, more and more people buy a wider range of household goods like television, microwave oven and rice cooker. Do you think this is a positive or negative development?

Rising incomes and cheaper manufacturing have made domestic appliances a normal part of middle-class life in many countries. I regard the wider ownership of household goods as a broadly positive development, provided that societies manage the environmental costs of producing and discarding them.
