Economic growth in in recent years made some people in both developed countries and developing countries richer. However, research showing that while people in developing countries are happier, people in developed countries seems no happier than before. Why? What can we learn from it?

Economic growth has lifted incomes in many countries, yet its relationship with happiness differs sharply between poorer and richer societies. People in developing countries may become happier because growth meets basic needs, while people in developed countries often gain less happiness because their material needs are already largely satisfied and social pressures increase.
