It is often assumed that countries with long working hours are more economically successful because their citizens produce more goods and services. This belief contains some truth, especially in rapidly developing economies where hard work can accelerate growth. However, I only partly agree with the statement, because excessive working hours can also damage productivity, family life, public health, and social stability.
