As countries develop, more and more people buy and use their own cars. Do you think the advantages for individuals outweigh the disadvantages for the environment?

Economic development often brings a strong desire for private mobility, especially where public transport is unreliable or associated with inconvenience. I believe the advantages of car ownership for individuals are real, but they are outweighed by environmental disadvantages when car use becomes the dominant pattern of transport.
